Business

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reported a significant improvement in its financial performance for the 2025 financial year, recording a profit after tax of N7.2 trillion.

The company disclosed the figure during the presentation of its 2025 Audited Financial Statements on Tuesday.

According to NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the company generated N34.5 trillion in revenue during the year, while maintaining strong operational performance across its oil and gas business.

Ojulari said the company's 2025 profit represented an increase of more than 30 per cent compared with the previous year.

He also disclosed that NNPCL contributed substantially to government revenues during the period, paying taxes, royalties and other remittances amounting to N22.3 trillion to the Federal Government.

On production, the NNPCL chief executive said the company recorded average crude oil production of 1.77 million barrels per day during the year.

Gas production also averaged 7.2 billion standard cubic feet per day, reflecting the company's continued focus on increasing output across both the oil and gas sectors.

The latest financial performance comes amid ongoing efforts by NNPCL to strengthen its commercial operations, improve production and increase its contribution to Nigeria's economy.

The company had previously reported a profit after tax of N5.76 trillion for the 2024 financial year.

NNPCL's latest results therefore highlight the company's continued importance to Nigeria's petroleum industry and its contribution to government revenues through taxes, royalties and other statutory payments.
