An outlawed group operating from Kebbi State and known as Yansakai, has killed 13 residents of a village in Zamfara State in alleged connivance with the village head.
The 13 villagers were killed in Tugbar Wabi, a neighbouring Fulani settlement in Maru Local Government Area, on the evening of March 24 by members of the group after they held a meeting with the village head, Alhaji Muhammadu Danmliga, according to the Zamfara state Police Command.
Members of the group were said to have come from Bena in Kebbi State for the attack.
It is not known the outcome of the meeting between them and the village head, except that the group members left the meeting and attacked the villagers.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara command, DSP Sanusi Amiru, gave the names of the other arrested suspects as Basiru Lawali, Sakke Sada, Ibrahim Muhammad and Umar Muhammad while items recovered from the suspects included six guns, swords and arrows, fifteen cartridges, axes, knives, charms and 10 motorcycles.
