The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied reports that it has commenced the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.
The commission, in a statement issued on Monday, warned Nigerians against a fake recruitment notice circulating online and directing prospective applicants to a website purportedly created for the exercise.
INEC said the notice did not originate from the commission and urged members of the public to disregard it.
“The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to a message circulating online claiming that the Commission is currently recruiting and training ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election,” the statement said.
The commission added that the website linked to the notice was not its official recruitment portal.
“This information is not from INEC. The website/link being circulated is NOT an official INEC recruitment portal,” it stated.
INEC cautioned Nigerians against clicking on the link, submitting personal information, uploading documents or making payments through the platform.
“Members of the public are strongly advised NOT to click on the link, submit personal information, upload documents or make any payment through the platform,” the commission warned.
According to INEC, official information on recruitment and election-related activities would only be published through its verified communication channels and official websites.
The commission urged Nigerians seeking authentic information to visit its official website, inecnigeria.org, and rely on its verified platforms for updates.
INEC said it had previously warned the public about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements allegedly linked to the commission.
It urged Nigerians to disregard and refrain from circulating the latest fake notice.
“Please disregard and do not circulate this false recruitment notice,” INEC said.
The commission advised members of the public to always verify the authenticity of online recruitment announcements before clicking on links or submitting personal information.
“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click,” it added.
